Project Status: Draft under expert review

A formal legal codification initiative examining the definition of gender apartheid under international criminal law.

Phase I Foundational Legal Framework

Preparation of a draft legal definition grounded in international criminal law, comparative jurisprudence, treaty practice, and existing crimes against humanity frameworks.

Phase II Expert Review & Commentary

Circulation of the draft legal definition for expert review and written commentary by international law scholars, practitioners, and former institutional officials.

Phase III Finalization & Institutional Engagement

Finalization of the legal definition and preparation for submission, citation, and institutional consideration within relevant international legal and policy forums.

Methodology

The project applies a doctrinal legal methodology, including statutory interpretation of the Rome Statute, comparative analysis of apartheid jurisprudence, examination of persecution as a crime against humanity, and review of state practice and institutional precedent.
